Rev. Jonathan D. Moore was elected as Lead Pastor of Highway Tabernacle in September of 2001, becoming just the eighth pastor in the church’s history that commenced in 1932. Pastor Moore has also served as a missionary and as an evangelist, having preached in twelve different countries on five continents. From 1995 through 2001 the Moores served as appointed foreign missionaries with the Assemblies of God, residing in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. Prior to his missionary assignment, Pastor Moore ministered at Praise Assembly of God in Niles, Ohio for nearly seven years.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor Moore has served on various boards and committees including his current appointment to the Board of Regents of Africa’s Hope as well as the Asia Pacific Board of Regents. He is also a member of the Network Missions Committee of the Ohio Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God and the World Missions Board of the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Pastor Moore is a 1978 graduate of Struthers (Ohio) High School. Just before completing His Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education through Youngstown State University, he entered full-time ministry and later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Theology from Global University in 1996. He currently is nearing completion of his Master’s Degree through that same institution. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1989.
Family: Aside from Christ, the greatest joy of his life is his wife, Paulette, and his four children: Lucas, Jessica, Matthew, and Victoria.

She was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States as a young child. She graduated from East High School in Youngstown, Ohio. She and her late husband John have lived in Youngstown for most of their lives. She has served Highway Tabernacle as an associate pastor since 1987, when she became the first woman pastor on staff. She has led various bible studies, taught Sunday school, counseled many whose lives have been shattered by life controlling problems, led the evangelism dept., and overseen our Senior's ministry.
Family: She has four kids: Mary Ann, David, Linda, and Nancy.
Favorite Verse: John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I was born in Youngstown, Ohio and have lived most of my life in Austintown, Ohio. I was raised in the Lutheran Church and started coming to Highway in 1976 with my then girlfriend Joan, who was born and raised at Highway. After we were married we spent many years teaching various elementary grade Sunday School. I worked 27 years as a chef and operations manager of a large catering service, then spent 3 years at an appliance parts dealer before entering the ministry part-time in 2003, then full time in January of 2004. I completed my courses through the Berean School of the Bible. I have played the bass guitar since 1970 and love to play for the Lord every chance I get.
Family: Joan and I were married in 1977, we have two children: Jessica and Joel Jr. who is married to Angeline. We are expecting our first grandchild May 2011.
Favorite Verse: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
Favorite Restaurant: Salvatore’s in Austintown- great food!

I Grew up in Uniontown Ohio and graduated from Lake High School. Went to Southeastern University and graduated with a B.A. in church ministries and a concentration in Youth. Started as a youth pastor at victory life church in stow Ohio and had many great years of ministry. I moved on to Bethel Temple in Parma Ohio for three years and then five years ago came to highway tabernacle. I love serving highway and especially the teenagers of our community and church.
Family: I am married to the most amazing woman on earth, Jodi Scalzo. We have been married since 1997 and have four incredible kids that we love and keep us very busy!
Favorite Verse: Psalm 34:17-19 - The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
Favorite Restaurant: Outback Steakhouse, but Carrabba’s Italian Grill is a pretty close second.
Favorite Bible Character: David, hands down my favorite.

After growing up in New Stanton, Pennsylvania I moved to Warren, Ohio during my Senior year of High School. From there I attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO where I met my future wife Sheila during my last semester there. (Whew.. almost missed her!) After Music Pastoring in Illinois for a while, I moved back home to Warren and began attending Highway Tabernacle in January of 2007. In September of 2008, I began leading worship as a volunteer and I came on staff full time in May of 2008. Sheila and I married in October of 2008 and we've serving here together since then!
Family: Sheila and I share our home with a self-absorbed little diva named Meeko... Who happens to be a cat.
